Dianthus 'Peman Violet' Carnation

Peman Violet is a compact, upright, evergreen perennial with flattened, narrowly lance-shaped, grey-green leaves and, in summer, stiff stems bearing strongly fragrant, bright violet-pink flowers. Flowers have a spicy fragrance. Attractive to butterflies. Great cut flower. Excellent for edging, in rock gardens and containers. Deadhead regularly to encourage more buds to form. The flower petals of all types of Dianthus are edible. Plants require good drainage and are an excellent choice for hot dry sites or gravelly soils. Combines beautifully with other alpine plants.
