Hydrangea Ruby Slipper Oakleaf
Blooms change from white to red, and foliage fades from green to russet-mahogany.
'Ruby Slippers' are easy to care for as long as they are planted in semi-shady areas with well-drained and moist soil. They are heat tolerant but have to be regularly watered as the plant is not drought resistant. These cultivars are very well suited as hedges but also as decorative stand-alone specimens. They grow equally well within the company of other shrubs, but need sufficient room to spread.
'Ruby Slippers' can be used as cut flowers and dried without losing their everlasting color. The plant is also easy to establish and care for, and it needs only occasional fertilization. It flourishes continually when is planted facing the south as it benefits the most from the afternoon sun exposure.
