This ever-changing rose features a kaleidoscope effect of bright red buds tinged with coral that open to reveal stunning blooms of gold. In a weeks-long show of color, Joseph's Coat Climbing Rose will then mature back to red. 4" blooms are fragrant and will attract passersby as well as butterflies. Named after the multicolored coat of the biblical hero, Joseph, this proven performer is a hero in its own respect—reaching its full potential when allowed to climb a tall fence or trellis.
Plant with bud union at soil surface or 2 inches below in cold climates. Roses prefer a thorough watering but do not like 'wet feet'. Water early in the day to avoid wet conditions into the night which can cause issues with fungus and disease.
For heavy soil, add peat moss, dehydrated cow manure or compost. Mound soil in the center of the hole, spread roots over mound, add 1/2 of the soil, compact the soil, complete filling, compact that soil, and water well. Fertilize once a month with rose food. Water 1 inch per week when rainfall is insufficiient. Spray or dust every week for insects. Mulch heavily around the base for Winter and cover rest of plant with straw or shredded leaves.
