Beautiful two-colored apples have red stripes on yellow-green skin and ripen in October, making for a lot of late-season harvests. The best thing? You can enjoy fresh, crisp Braeburn apples for months after picking them. They taste better after picking and store well until January. Braeburn trees can grow to be 12 to 15 feet tall on standard rootstock (smaller on dwarf rootstock). They can pollinate themselves, but they make even bigger crops when there is another apple tree nearby. The tree is a reliable, heavy cropper even when it's young. In the spring, it covers itself in fragrant flowers before making its tasty fruit. Braeburn's firm texture makes it great for eating raw, baking, cooking, or making applesauce.
