This plant is extremely hardy and requires almost no care at all to transform into a full size bush. This purple rose of Sharon variety has unique, double purple blooms that flowers through the summer and into the fall adding color to your landscape during the heat of the summer when most other plants have stopped. This also makes it a great choice if you are looking to attract butterflies and hummingbirds to your garden. The rose of Sharon is a very popular shrub because it is easy to grow, adapts to a wide range of soil, and is stunning to look at. It looks wonderful as a tall stand alone shrub, it can be pruned for a more tree form, or plant multiples for a nice hedge. The rose of Sharon does well in the heat but the well draining soil should be kept moist.
