Althea is a deciduous, ornamental shrub more commonly referred to as the Rose of Sharon. This shrub produces beautiful double red blooms that look particularly stunning when planted in groups or around borders. It exhibits a slow-to-moderate growth rate, and reaches a height of about 15 feet and a spread of about 12 feet. When planting look for a full sun area with moist, well-drained soil.
