Shademaster Locust is a large vase shaped tree, with small leaves that cast a soft, dappled shade. One of the last trees to leaf out in the spring and one of the first trees to lose its leaves in the fall, along with the dappled shade, make it one of the best trees in the landscape to try to grow a lawn under. The tiny leaflets have a beautiful golden yellow fall color and are so small that they don't require much raking to keep the lawn looking tidy.
